Brickell walk – Exploring the beautiful Brickell Key

Summary

An exploration of the upscale neighbourhood of Brickell, best known for its high rise buildings, luxury apartments, restaurants, shops, art galleries, and places of entertainment.

Public transport

Catch the metro to Brickell station.

Directions

The walk starts at Brickell metro rail station on the corner of SW 10st and SW 1st Ave. From here follow the underline path in a northerly direction until you get to SW 7th st. Turn right down SW 7th st (Tamiami Trail).  This will take you past the Brickell City Centre complex, which consists of a number of residential high rise towers and office buildings, a high-rise hotel, and an interconnected five-story shopping mall. 

From the Tamiami Trail turn left onto Brickell Ave.  Walk past the First Miami Presbyterian Centre and then turn right through Brickell Park before heading in a southerly direction along the River Trail. The River Trail connects up to Brickell Key Bridge. Cross the bridge and then turn left. This part of the walk loops around the foreshore of Burlingame Island (Brickell Key) in a clockwise direction. The island is best known for its exclusive apartments and amazing water and skyline views. 

Once you have competed the island circuit, continue over Brickell Key Bridge and then turn left onto Brickell Bay Drive walking in a southerly direction.  From Brickell Bay Drive turn right at SE 12 St.  Continue up SE 12th St, over Brickell Ave and up SW12th St, which will take you back to SW1st Ave and Brickell Station where the walk ends.
