Directions
Starting point – Queen St Mall
The Brisbane walk starts in Queen St Mall, which is a shopping and lifestyle precinct located in the heart of Brisbane City.
From the mall walk across George st and continue down Queen St. Here you will come across the Treasury Casino building. This Italian renaissance style building, built in three stages between 1886 and 1928, was added to the Queensland heritage register in October 1992. The building, formerly the site of Government administration in Queensland, now houses the Brisbane Casino.
From Queen St turn left onto William St and walk through Queens Gardens, which sits adjacent to the Casino. This will take you back to George St.
Walk along George St in a south easterly direction, which is the opposite direction of the Queen St Mall.
At the end of George St and adjacent the Queensland Parliament is the City Botanic Gardens. The Gardens, which were initially established in 1828 remains the premier public park and recreational facility for the capital of Queensland.

On entering the Botanic Gardens, continue walking in a south easterly direction until you reach the Bunya walk, which is at the far end of the gardens. Take the Bunya walk in a south westerly direction. It will take you near the Goodwill Bridge. Walk across Goodwill Bridge.
Once you get to the other side of the river turn right down Siddon Street. This part of the walk will hug the South Bank of the Brisbane river along the Clem Jones Pathway and heads in a northerly direction.
Along Clem Jones Pathway is Streets Beach, which is an inner-city, man-made beach boasting a sparkling blue lagoon surrounded by sandy beaches and sub-tropical plants. If the weather is warm and you feel like going for a swim this is the place to take a break. Streets Beach is free to use and patrolled by lifeguards all year round.
After taking in the ambiance of Streets Beach continue walking northwards along the Clem Jones pathway past the rainforest walk. The pathway continues under Victoria Bridge along the Southbank precinct.
Continue past the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA). GOMA opened in December 2006 and is the largest gallery of modern and contemporary art in Australia. It houses Australia’s first purpose-built cinematheque, an archive of films and film-related objects with an exhibition venue. Continue past GOMA until you reach the Kurilpa Bridge.
Finish – Brisbane City Hall
Walk over the Kurilpa Bridge crossing back to the other side of the river. From here continue down Tank St, turn right down George St and then left down Ann St. This will take you to Brisbane City Hall where the walk ends.
