Summary
Palm Beach is located in the upper north shore of Sydney. Less well known to tourists, this walk would make a fantastic day trip away from the hustle and bustle of the city, in a location that exemplifies the natural beauty of Australia’s coastline.

Catch the bus to Palm Beach ferry wharf.
Directions
The Sydney Palm Beach walk begins near the Palm Beach ferry wharf. To get there from the city catch the express bus to the Mona Vale, then another bus to Palm Beach which stops at the wharf.
From the wharf walk up Barenjoey Rd using the path on the ocean side of the road. At the end of Barenjoey Rd turn right and walk down Beach Rd. Just before the end of Beach Rd turn left into Governor Phillip Park, which has sweeping views out to North Palm Beach.
From here continue north along the road and you will pass the North Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club. The club, which was founded in 1946 is quite isolated being located at the northerly point of the peninsula. North Palm Beach is also the filming location for the popular Australian TV series ‘Home and Away’.
Continue past the Surf Life Saving Club and follow the bitumen access road as far as it goes. From here you should be able to see the Barrenjoey Lighthouse in the distance. Continue north along the beach track and then turn left in a westerly direction to access the other side of the peninsula known as Station Beach.
At the north end of Station Beach is the Barrenjoey track. Take this track to the lighthouse, which is the end of the walk. The Barrenjoey Lighthouse is a heritage listed building constructed in 1881 and owned by the Government of NSW.
To get home you will need go back in the same direction you came. However, there is a bus that stops on Beach Rd. This will take you past the Palm Beach ferry terminal back to Mona Vale.
